Presentation architecture
Recommended slide sequence
A clear slide deck is usually more persuasive than a deck full of every calculation. Use the appendix or speaker notes for backup math.
| Slide | Purpose | What to include |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Client situation | Set the story. | Household, goals, income, biggest constraints. |
| 2. Financial snapshot | Prove you analyzed the numbers. | Net worth, cash flow, emergency fund, debt map. |
| 3. Top priorities | Rank the plan. | Three to five priorities in order. |
| 4. Debt plan | Reduce risk and interest. | Payoff order, monthly amount, avoid-new-debt rule. |
| 5. Savings plan | Fund stability and goals. | Emergency fund, retirement, college, short-term goals. |
| 6. Insurance plan | Protect income and dependents. | Coverage gaps and recommended next review. |
| 7. Tax plan | Use available tax tools. | Tax-advantaged accounts, credits, withholding, taxable events. |
| 8. Implementation calendar | Make advice actionable. | 30-day, 6-month, 12-month, and long-term steps. |
Design rules
- Use one recommendation per slide when possible.
- Put the conclusion in the slide title, not just in the body.
- Use tables for comparisons and timelines for action plans.
- Keep backup calculations available for questions.
